The annual Black April Commemoration is a touching and empowering program that will serve as a tool to bridge the generational gap between many Vietnamese Americans and war-related immigrant families. Black April Commemoration Week 2010 aims to be as creative, engaging, educational, heart-felt and welcoming as possible.

UCLA Vietnamese Student Union proudly presents its annual spring talent show, Café Am!

Sunday April 25th 2010, 7-10 at Sunset Recreation, Buenos Ayres Room

This year, our theme is “Lời Trái Tim Muốn Nói/Where We Belong.”

Cafe Am (meaning Warm Coffee in Vietnamese) is VSU annual spring talent show that incorporates live performances, art exhibition (including art activities for groups and individuals), and food sampling into a cultural fusion. Traditionally created by a group of Vietnamese students as a casual get-together for VSU members and friends, Cafe Am is meant to be a warm and open space where people can express themselves, celebrate Vietnamese as well as other cultures, while enjoying delicious sweet treats (a warm cup of the special Vietnamese coffee is a must and always served at Cafe Am). This year, we also plan to bring in the international student community and turn this into a truly memorable and fascinating event, a real melting pot at last!

Café Am aims to celebrate world cultures by gathering together student-submitted art and live performances as well as encourage expression of ideas, visions, values, and thoughts through art activities in which you can participate. Performances will include musical acts, dance, and spoken word. Come take a break from studying and join us over a cup of warm Vietnamese coffee and French-Vietnamese snacks while enjoying this FREE night of entertainment!
