VSU elections continue into Round 2 this week! Take a break from midterm studying and come out to our elections to vote for your next VSU 2013-2014 board! *We are still accepting applications for general board until the end of Week 6, so keep rolling in those apps!

VSU Board Elections, Round 2
Where: TBA (please check back with the Facebook event for updated location)
When: Wednesday, May 1st, 6:00PM – 8:00PM
Part 1, Round 2 Elections will encompass the positions of:
- Retention Coordinator
- Internal Vice President
- External Vice President
To be eligible to vote, each individual must be an Undergraduate at UCLA and be a general member of the Vietnamese Student Union. A general member is defined by an individual’s participation in at least ONE of the items listed below:
- Volunteered in at least ONE VSU program (i.e. Black April Commemoration Week, VSU High School Conference, Vietnamese Culture Night)
- Attended at least ONE VSU general body meeting
- Participated in SEA CLEAR mentorship component
- Volunteer for Project HOPE
*Come prepared and ask potential candidates about their vision of the future of VSU, or pose any other questions you have! You must be present at the beginning of each elections hearing in order to make your vote count! Please come on time because we will start on time.*

Black April Commemoration 2013: A Message from the Past
Where: Los Angeles Tennis Center
When: Tuesday, April 30th, 6:00PM – 8:00PM
The Vietnamese Student Union at the University of California, Los Angeles is continuing our annual April 30th, 1975 commemoration event! The event, “A Message from the Past (Thông Điệp Từ Quá Khứ)”, will take place on April 30th, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the LATC Clubhouse in UCLA.
The event will consist of:
- Panelist Speakers (one of which was an ambassador of Vietnam)
- Keynote Speaker
- And MANY MORE!
*As part of the Black April Commemoration at UCLA, there will also be a Black April Info Day on Monday, April 29th, 10-2pm in Bruin Plaza.

SEA CLEAR Wellshop: Me, My Family, & I
Where: SAC Conference Room 4 (3rd Floor)
When: Friday, May 3rd, 3:00PM – 4:30PM
Come and discuss about family relationships in a safe space! We will be discussing topics regarding our relationships with parents/caretaker(s), and inter-generational conflicts, and issues surrounding API community, media and stereotype. Also, joining us will be a special guest facilitator, Wendy F. Lin, from UCLA’s Counseling and Psychological Services.
Free food and refreshments will be provided. Raffle prizes and free giveaways will also take place!

HOPE Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser Event
When: Sunday, May 5th, 9:30PM – 11:30PM
Ever wanted to test your bowling skills? Ever wanted to see how much money you could raise for a good cause? Well, you can do all this while having a HOPEtastic time with people at HOPE’s Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser!
The Higher Opportunity Program for Education (HOPE) at UCLA is looking for participants, sponsors, and donors to help support the project’s operational and programming funds! Money raised from this event will go directly towards HOPE’s future events such as Field Trips, Community Service Events, and HOPE Banquet!
Our target amount for this event is $500! Completely doable right?

HMONG:LA Meet ‘N Greet and HAEP

You are cordially invited to take part of HMONG:LA’s Meet ‘N Greet on Friday, May 3rd at the UCLA Kerckhoff Grand Salon from 7:00PM – 8:00PM with AHS and HMONG:LA attendees. Part of HMONG:LA’s mission is to showcase student leaders who have pursued higher education. The Meet ‘N Greet will allow high school youths to actively engage with student leaders within and outside of UCLA.Immediately following the Meet ‘N Greet will be the presentations of the Hmong American Experience Projects (HAEP) from 8:00PM – 11:00PM. All are welcome to stay and enjoy the projects presented by AHS members. HAEP was designed to provide a safe and supportive space where members could express their interpretations of their “Hmong American” identity.
