The Vietnamese Student Union Board Elections (Part 2, Round 2)

Location: Haines A25

Time: 6:00 PM Wednesday,5/30/12

Part 2, Round 2 Elections will encompass the positions of:

Social Affairs Coordinator
Culture Coordinator
Political Advocacy Coordinator

Voting Rights:
To be eligible to vote, each individual must be an Undergraduate at UCLA and be a general member of the Vietnamese Student Union. A general member is defined by an individual’s participation in at least ONE of the items listed below:
– Volunteered in at least ONE VSU program (i.e. Black April Commemoration Week, VSU High School Conference, Vietnamese Culture Night)
– Attended at least ONE VSU general body meeting
– Participated in SEA CLEAR mentorship component
– Volunteer for Project HOPE

*Come prepared and ask potential candidates about their vision of the future of VSU, or pose any other questions you have! You must be present at the beginning of each elections hearing in order to make your vote count! Please come on time because we will start on time.*

V-Grad Senior Applications

V-Grad, Vietnamese Graduation, is designed for graduating seniors who identify as Vietnamese, have been involved with VSU, and/or would like to be a part of the ceremony to celebrate such a momentous occasion with their families, friends, and individuals who have contributed to their success. This event will be the sixth annual Vietnamese Graduation hosted by the Vietnamese Student Union and will take place on June 17th, 2012 from 4 pm to 6 pm.

HOPE is hiring for the Academic Year 2012-2013 Assistant Director and Academic Development Coordinator position.

We are looking for driven and motivated individuals dedicated to promoting access to higher education and wanting to make a difference by working with HOPE student-staff toward servicing underrepresented youth.

VSU Election Results (Round 2, Part 1)

Dear Members of the Vietnamese Student Union,
Thank you all for participating in the 2012 Vietnamese Student Union Elections Round 2, Part 1.  The votes were counted on May 17, 2012 at 7:15 pm by the President, Katrina Vo.  To assure validity, the counting of the votes was monitored by a UCLA full-time employee and Office Manager at the Student Retention Center, Eder Gaona, and Administrative Specialist of the Community Programs Office, Suza Khy.

The results are as follows:

Inter-Collegiate Council Representative
Teri Nguyen – Confidence: 22, No Confidence: 3 = 88% Elected
Webmaster
Tristan Vuong –  Confidence: 10, No Confidence: 17 = 37% Not-Elected

Educational Coordinator
Andrea Chu –  Confidence: 10, No Confidence: 16 = 38.5% Not-Elected
Johnny Tran – Confidence: 15, No Confidence: 11 = 57.7% Elected

Community Advocacy Coordinator
Brian Vu –  Confidence: 12, No Confidence: 10 = 54.5% Elected
Tammy Mac –  Confidence: 9, No Confidence: 13 = 40.9% Not-Elected
Congratulations to those elected! Candidates have one week to formally accept. Elected candidates will receive a follow-up notice from the current President. If any position is not accepted, positions will be reopened for election.
We were not able to finish all the hearings for board candidates on May 16th. Thus, final round of hearings will partake during Election Hearings Round 2, Part 2. Elections will be continued Week 9, Wednesday, May 30th from 6-8 pm, location Kerkhoff Stateroom 133.
